Hi guys! I want to replace my factory unit with a new radio and cd changer. I want to mount the new changer in the center console. I was wondering does any have any advise on swaping out the systems (i.e. brand)? Also, how hard is it to replace factor CD changer with a new 12 disc changer in the same location?
You can easily put any 12 disc changer you want in there. JVC makes the worlds smallest 12 disc changer. Something to consider if you want some kind of storage space in there.
Very simple swap. Once you unscrew the changer you will see the cable harness attached to it. Install your new radio, pop off the top of the console and run the wires through it and out of the same hole that the factory wire came through to your new changer inside the console. I have fit a Pioneer 12 disc in there(since removed).

Hey Idgcorp did you put the Pioneer CDX-P1280 12-disc CD in the consule? If so that's the same unit I'm getting from crutchfield along with Pioneer DEH-P4600MP Radio. Will I have to drill holes or make other mods to secure the changer or can I use existing setup?
yes the 1280, I only drilled a small hole to handle the location of the harness that comes out of the Pioneer. If you dont make a hole it will keep the changer tilted. I replaced it with the XDVP9 DVD changer and moved the 12 to another location
