I have a '76 1/2 ton, reg cab, short bed, with a 360 and a granny 4 spd. Can any one tell me what tranny this is? Is it strong? I am building this truck to be very mud friendly and was wondering if this tranny will hold up. Anything would be helpful. thanx.
trannys,
T18, T19, NP435, far as i know could be any of them, there all strong.
engines
you forgot the 351M and 400
351C, wouldn't bother, Besides it wasn't put in US trucks
351W, still have to swap bellhouseings
351M, better truck motor than the other351s, but you have to swap in a BB bellhouseing
400, same as 351M just bigger CI, best it gets with a SB.
390, you're just crank, rods and pistions away.
460, you have to swap bellhouseings

thanks alot guys, im new to the ford family and glad to be welcomed with such open arms! Do you know where i might be able to find the 390 kit you were talking about? thanks again!
junkyard, 60s T-birds, lincolns often have them, i think some have 428s(thats even better). get the whole motor, freshen it up and drop it in. or use the crank, rods, and pistons.
will the 360 flywheel balance with the 390 crank?
289, 302, 5.0, 351W, 351C share the same bellhouseing
351M, 400, 429, 460 share the same bellhouseing
352, 360, 390, 428 share the same bellhouseing
351M/400 are heavy duty small blocks.
