I have a 1974 f250 vin F26YRT71XXX axle cod b4j tranny code A and I cannot find out what front axle it has. I was hopeing you guys could help me out. thanks

that info is wrong....they got d44's up to 79...and 60's were available with the snofighter package. i dont htink a 60 was available before 76....and a d44 hd still has a d44 housing...what your describing is basically a dana 50 found under the superduties. the term 44hd gets thrown around waay too much
no it doesnt, tell me about a dana 44 that used dana 60 parts before 1980.....you may be thinking of the crappy low pinion dana 60 that was used from 76-77...it had 30spline inner shafts, and tiny stubs....which made it no stronger than a dana 44.
most "44hd's" just have thicker tubes/better brakes and knuckles, some had the large external hubs.
