Altenator Conversion

I have a 1984 F-150 with external regulator altenator. Is it much trouble to convert to later alt. with internal reg? What are details?

Going to a later internal regulated alternator is going to be a little more expensive than the stock components. I'm not sure I've ever seen one set up for V-belts either, but I imagine you might be able to swap pulleys. Another route you might consider is using the older Delco internal regulator alternator. I've never looked at the Ford and Delco side by side, but it seems to me it could be done. And it couldn't be easier to wire up...one wire to the ignition circuit and one to the battery. I've swapped them in place of the generators of old farm tractors and they perform really well. They are also pretty easy to work on and test!
