Conflicting date codes
Well I was cleaning the engine bay today and noticed the ID tag sticker on the engine block, finally found out I have a Windsor engine 
But also noticed the build date, at least on the sticker was Oct. 97', the truck's build date on the door sticker is Feb 96'. Could the motor have been changed out at some time or is it common for truck chassis to sit in storage for a while before a motor is dropped in?

Usually the engines are built a bit before the chassis, but being that it was the first year of the model change, anything is possible.
I thought that a lot of bolt on pieces are reused when and engine is changed (valve covers, intake and exhaust manifolds, etc) .
I could be wrong when it comes to warranty swaps though.
