Injector drive module Install

My 97Ford F350 has error code P1668 PCM -IDM Diagnostic Communication Error. Install new IDM ?

A new IDM means $$$. I'd be looking for a loose connector first.

I have a 99 F-250 7.3L Powerstroke, and the dealer told me I had a bad IDM. They wanted around $1200 for it. I located one on the internet. I don't remember the site I searched, but the place I got it from was ECU TEC PARTS (www.ecutecparts.com)
