Replacing Alternator on 97 Expedition

Replacing Alternator on 97 Expedition
I am trying to replace the alternator on my 97 Expedition. I have read several posts about detaching the three electircal plugs or sockets. However, I am having difficulties getting those three plugs detached. Can someone please give me a little advice? I have been using a screwdriver to pry them out and nothing seems to work.

Here's what my service manual says. Unfortunately it doesn't elaborate too much on the connectors.
Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.
1 Disconnect the strator and voltage regulator connectors.
2 Remove the generator B+ nut.
3 Disconnect the generator B+ cable.
Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.
1 Disconnect the strator and voltage regulator connectors.
2 Remove the generator B+ nut.
3 Disconnect the generator B+ cable.
