Cold weather Question.
Do any of you guys change your Transmission gear oil in the winter months?I'v never had a 3/4 ton standard before so I was thinking that it might be a little hard on everything when it has just the regular gear oil in it.I thought there might be a winter blend.Also,What is a good brand of transmission gear oil.The truck has been sitting for 20 plus years so I proabably ought to change it.Thanks.

Go ahead and change. Oil that is that old will cause shifting problems. Manual trns are clearenced to use a specific weight of oil. This may be 40w, 50w or 80-90 or ATF depending on the trans and year. I would stick with the correct weight oil but go with a synthetic oil.
