alarm keeps going off

Hey everyone, I'm new to the board. My name is Matt, and I live in northern ontario.

I have a '94 explorer XLT, and over the past few weeks I've been having trouble with my alarm. It's pretty cold up here and usually when the temp. drops to -25C or lower, my alarm goes off whenever I use the key to unlock the doors. This doesn't happen when I use the remote, and if it did, I would have the remote to turn off the alarm, but usually it happens to me at school when I'm without the remote, and so I must stand in the parking lot for 3 minutes with a really loud horn sounding. I usually bypass this by going in through the trunk...

Anyways, since it's a '94, and I'm not really into the idea of taking it to the dealer right now, I was wondering if it is possible to just disable the alarm, perhaps by pulling a fuse or something... I don't have an FSM myself so I'm not sure how the alarm is wired. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance

edit: it doesn't happen ALL the time, but most of the time. has only happened in the drivers side door. has also happened once when I didn't even lock the doors, but the alarm went off when I opened it anyway.

This is the Factory alarm that we are talking about, correct? I just want to make sure before I try looking up the wiring system. Just let me know.

Sounds like the dis-arm switch in your driver door is sticking. We had a Limited like that in the shop the other day. When the alarm activates, can you go to the passenger door and unlock it to shut it off? If you can then it more than likely is the switch in the door. I will look and see what I can find and post.

Hey Guys,
I just got registered today. I have the same vehicle. Yesterday the alarm started sounding as I was driving out the driveway. I drove back to the house, shut down the engine and turned off the ignition, the alarm continued. Disconnected the battery, cleaned terminals, hooked up battery---alarm sounds with or without doors locked, key in or out, engine running or not. Checked the batteries in the keyless faub--they're good. It locks and unlocks the doors while engine is off/does not if engine is running. I don't have the slightest idea what to check next. Any ideas out there?
