Maybe you just got a nice air leak that facilitates restarting after work like that is done. Just kiddin, I got a 90 and have been dealing with bad previous owner blues for 4 months and 4000 dollars, but it's complete and running strong, GL...
The little guy is talking to me. He sounds very similar to my wife, as she was in the truck too. My "it's better than payments" defense for owning two old cars, wears pretty thin when the cars get banged-up.
That is exactly what I thought when I saw that.
Somehow I did not think it was you at the truck, but more at you from elsewhere.
Thanks, that was a real good laugh for me...I have a lot of fun here.
You may need this ....the repair is still less than the increased insurance payments for a new truck would be for three months. And you still have 9 months worth of insurance payments left in the bank for other repairs. Plus the repair will cost 1/2 as much on your truck as it would on a new one.
After a few more trips to the pressure car wash, I've narrowed down one large oil leak coming from the oil cooler (Both Ends). Another from the oil pan gasket and possibly the front seal too. I like to turn wrenches, but I'm not looking forward to either of those jobs. Despite that, the truck has been running real smooth and I'm putting a lot of hope into the possibility that a few new gaskets and new valve seals will greatly reduce the amount of oil I go through.
Oh, Yah; Congrats on getting your truck back on the road Dave!
Sometimes you can get a rebuild gasket kit cheaper than parting out one at a time. The oil cooler leak is normal. It's only a couple of 0-rings if I remember right. The pan is also normal. As is the front seal. Do yourself a favor and have the damper sleeved when you do it. Otherwise you may be re-doing it often.
The pan gasket and oil cooler O-ring kit should be waiting for me at the local parts house. Yes, I should have ordered an entire gasket kit. By repairing the earlier timing cover leak the mess I used to leave wherever I parked is no longer . Some of my fire is lost because of this (consumption is still high). Closer inspection has led me to believe the front seal doesn't leak. The oil that comes from that area seems to come from the pan gasket off to the passenger side of center. It leaks more when the crankcase is full of oil. If I do find my way into the front seal I will sleeve the pulley…………………..Thanks, Zorrro
