Tranny additives?
Do tranny additives work? I have a 92 E4OD. I heard that Prolong works from one guy and my father put it in his E4OD when it was having a problem, and it didn't help.
I have a 94 F250 4x4 460, E4OD. I was pulling a tractor uphill when the tranny lost all forward gears.
I bought a 92 F250 4x4 460, E4OD. Blown head gasket they said when I bought it. They let it sit outside with head off and the hood open for about 2 years. Does not matter to me I bought it for the tranny. Well I said that untill I went to turn the engine to get the flex plate bolts out. One very ambitious 16 year old boy, 3 drillbits, 1 large punch, 1 small slege hammer and 6 hours of drilling beating and pounding the engine will turn over.
Anyway the tranny is out drained (fluid was a dark red not brown) new filter and ready to go in my 94.
Should I run the the tranny before I put an additive or should I go ahead and put it in?
I just need this tranny to last untill about July, then I will get mine rebuilt.
