I took my truck in for an Exhaust leak and they fixed it no problem. Now when I am going down the road, the Turbo is making a funny noise. Kinda like its cutting in and out. I am going to take it back and see what the deal is...............

I have heard about this problem from my tech, He say's that the 04's have a air intake sensor (butterfly valve) that always are giving them problems, It's at the front of the engine were the air go's into the engine, he say's some times it makes the engine surge at hiway speed. The 03's dont have this.
Take a look at page 38 of the bible. It shows 2 pics, one with, one without the throttle plate. It says that only early versions have the plate, later versions don't. Exactly opposite of what your tech said. We need a new Bible for the 04s.
I't says at the bottom of page 38 that the throttle body may become operational in 04, Hum, I know my truck just has the open hole 05/13/03 E/B. I asked him how in the hell can a turbo engine pull vacuum to operate a EGR valve, he says by closing of the boost a Little to the engine so the Exhaust pressure pre-turbo is higher than the intake pressure. So it sounds like thay had this in the 1st 03's then removed it and started to use it in the 04's.
The throttle body with the plate has in the 7.3, and every EFI engine before, connected via a cable directly to the accellerator pedal. To remove this plate in some later 6.0s means that the throttle is operated by computer controll of the turbo vanes and the injector pulses. I really don't understand how this can work. The same flash cannot possibly operate both type primary engine controls. This obvious confusion (page 32 and 38) of where this type of throttle mechanism was installed and not installed could be some of the gremlins in our trucks. If the Ford engineers and Techs don't know about this conflict how are they to fix the problem?
I took the hose off my PSD and checked it out. Mine was built in June, 03 and has no throttle plate. However it works, mine runs fine. I will continue to read and study the PSD bible an IF i find any other unusal features I will post same.
I think I will start signing

This explains why I could never see any vacume with engine.
