Just bought a remote starter and keyless entry system from designtech-Intl I want to install this myself but reading the installation notes has me worried. Has anyone done these and have advise about if I need any additional relays? The installation notes say that some fords have a high power fan motor and is the door lock system a negative, positive or reverse. Just asking these questions probably means I should not install it but I want to anyway to learn, plus i am cheap and don't want to pay someone else to do it.
I got one for Christmas, and after looking at it and talking to an installer, I paid to have it done. If it takes a guy that does it for a living 6 hours, it would take me a weekend to screw it up!
A former 12yr installer (me) recommends that if you have never put in a remote start or an alarm dont touch it. There are many wires in the new cars/truck(s) that run through the pcm and if you test these wire with a test light or probe your are likely to send current to the pcm ..... not good! If i didnt come with the relays return it buy any alarm made by DEI. More then likely the cheaper ones(designtec) will not hold up to the current. I am happy to help if i can
where are you located?
Nevermind Mary Land .... not so merry for me to cold and far away. I say take it to Best Buy or Circuit City and see if they will do it, if not it is because they dont trust the product. If you have any questions send me an email
