i've been thinking about getting a throttle body spacer, but dont want to possibly waste my money/time.
do any of yall have one on your truck, and if so what difference did it make?
i'm not expecting big power gains, i'm looking more for a little help with my mpg.
i know what alot of yall are going to say... headers/exhaust, 65 mm tb, supercharger, chip, yadda yadda yadda. I am a working class man, and dont really have 500+ to just blow on my truck.
i'm lookin for somthing that wont void the entire warranty and cost around 100 bucks or so.
i've already put on a k&n, use synthetic blend oil, new plugs, bumped up tire psi, and drive with the tailgate down (thats getting desperate). i am getting good gas mileage now, 10-12 avg, i'm just looking for about 1-2 extra. somthing to fill in what my heavy foot takes away.
I have a 2002 F-350 V-10 and I put the Poweraid throttle body spacer on it and gained 2mpg. I could noticed a little power gain, and also throttle response. I sure am glad I did it!
I have always thought that it improved the amount of drag on the truck, which should improve the mileage...
What testing have you seen that disproves this?
I'd like to read it.
Mike
Don't you ever watch Myth Busters? They did some experiments that showed at 55, you use more fuel with the tailgate down than with it up. At lower speeds, there is probably no difference.
I used to believe this myth - I even did my own experiments with my old '00 F150. I checked over several tank fulls, driving back and forth to work - but since my driving habit change from time to time (running late some days, driving faster/more aggressive), in the end there was no notable differences.
I still left my tailgae down most of the time, but it was more to keep the "Red Light Cams" from seeing my tag than it was for MPGs
The biggest impact on MPG is driving habits - hands down. In my X, I'm getting between 13 & 14 MPG regularly, but I drive with a light right foot, stay under 65 mph and use the cruise.

any other suggestions are more than welcome
don't waste your cash on a worthless spacer and as to milage don't expect any more it just isn't there in a gas powered pick up. as to mpg's my bothers toyota v8 4x4 gets 10 mpg as his every day av.
To really get better gas mileage - I'm thinking about installing one of [Link removed]. I never seen anything that has the greatest potential to increase MPG like this does.
