Hello people,
I have a question..see if anyone can please help me.....I own a 97 F250 HD 351 4X4 regular cab automatic. When I am driving it feels like my tranny goes into neutral then it clunks back into gear.It doesn't do it all the time, but when it does it does it all day. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? I am pretty sure it has the stock transmission in it. Is it my transmission or what?
It could be the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS.) It's mounted on the driver's side of the transmission, where the shifter cable attaches. It's the part with all the wires on it.
When the TRS starts to fail it will tell the computer that you have shifted to neutral. Then the computer shifts the transmission to neutral.
Change the sensor and you'll probably fix the problem.
It has 145000 and I had the tranny serviced when I bought the truck. I bought the truck with 122000 miles on it..I don't know if the previous owner towed or not. Anyone know how much the sensor cost?
