How Do I remove the top steering column cover?
Is there a way to remove the top steering column plastic cover on my 1999 SD 7.3?
I have all of the bottom off but the top is being held on by the plastic key guide over the ignition. I can't find any pin to release the ignition. I am trying to replace my shifter but can't get to the pin because of this problem.

To remove igntion:
Get a long skinny screwdriver, or long nail.
Turn your truck to "ON" but don't start it. Take the screwdriver/nail and guide it into the hole that doesn't have any screw it in (it's smaller, and off to the side of the first right screw hole). Push the screwdriver as straight as you can while pulling out on the ignition. What you're doing is pushing in the ball-detent for the igntion. I had to wiggle the ignition to get it to come out.
On second thought, since you've got the bottom cover already off, can you see the detent ball??
