5 speed manual question

New to the forum...I have an 03 Escape with the 2.0 I4 and 5 speed manual trans. I put a lot of miles on the truck and want to change the oil if the tranny if I can. I haven't crawled under the truck yet, but it there a drain plug on the tranny? What fluid do I put in?

Welcome to FTE! On a manual transmission changing the fluid is not as important as it is on an automatic. But don't get me wrong it is still is important. I am not sure what transmissions they use in the escapes but regardless it should have a drain and a fill plug of some sort. I am not sure what fluid it takes. That information should be in your owners manual. But it seems ATF goes in everything nowdays. I hope you enjoy FTE!

wow. i didn't know they made an escape w/a manual tranny. thats pretty cool. i always wondered why explorers and expeditions never came in manual.

They do make an explorer with a 5 speed!! I know someone who has an Explorer Sport with a 5 speed!

Yep, the explorer sports were available with a 5 speed. Too bad they stopped making them. The sport trac may be available with them but I am not sure.
