My Od light flashes off and on when ever I get over 65 mph,
98, xlt, 4.6, 4x4, 115K, Automatic... however the OD light also flashes on cold mornings, usally until the truck has heated up, also the transmission does not shift smooth at all, slamming into the next gear, and i do not have a heavy foot, i usually lay off on accelarating to take it easy, when I know its about to shift.
after the truck has warmed up, the light will stop flashing, and the poor shifting has gone away. however once I get over 65mph the light will flash again, but the shifting is still smooth
Welcome to the forum
Have the tranny fluid power flushed. This seems to have helped quite a few of these. The valves start to stick from normal wear of the clutches in the tranny and just changing the fluid will not always remove it.
On my 98 f150, 2x4, 70,000 miles, my OD light use to flash, and my transmission would shift pretty hard, i drove for a few months with it like that and finally i went to have it checked out and it turned out to be blown seals, clutch, it was grinding on the gears and put metal shavings all through it since i drove it like that for awhile ended up being a $2k job in the end. have it checked out just in case.
Yep, I checked it. It's still there! My 93 just started doing this, od light flashing but it doesn't start until I hit 3rd. Anyway of pulling codes on a 93 7.3l NA diesel? I just bought it and don't have the money to take it to a dealer.
