I have noticed a lot of problems with the flash upgrades on your 6.0L trucks. I have a suggestion, but it does involve some $cash$ on your part. Why not just forget about Ford on this one and go to the after market products. I know HyperTech is working on a program for the 6.0L (not available yet) and Bully Dog has a product now. There is even this COOL product from Edge Products (see link below). It is a 5 way adjustable (on the fly) program. Takes just about five minutes to install. Just thought this might help some...
I totally realize that "you" the consumer should not be "forced" to the after market, but then again...you truck and the 6.0L will probably be happy again.
Actually, I find it totally funny (in a bad way of course) that FMC does not have the engineer's or resources to fix this problem. Maybe they should out-source this problem to one of the company's that I listed above. They have apparently figured it out!

What does warranty have to do with it? A manufacturer cannot void a warranty because the vehicle gets modified. That is against the law. If that were true then K&N couldn't make a filter intake system for new vehicles. Remember, no physical modification's are made...just a flash upgrade.
Besides, the systems that I suggested are really a way to either by-pass the original computer, or re-program the computer. Kinda like what FMC is doing anyway...only without success.

the problem is they can detect that you have a program on the truck or have had it on there and that gives them something to blame your problems on. Just makes it harder if you have a serious problem, it may be against the law, but it is just an excuse for them.
No they don't "void" a warranty. They can deny coverage of a repair if the failure is caused by the device you add. The dealer I use sells aftermarket products like performance chips. I asked the service manager about it. The warranty clearly mentions performance chips. The manager said if you have a failure that is a result of the modification, Ford could deny the warranty claim. So if you were to be using a chip on a moderate economy setting and drove normally, you would probably be okay. If you go out drag racing and lose an engine, you would probably have Ford deny the warranty claim.
I know you were going to quote me the Magnussen-Moss Act. You can use an aftermarket product if it "meets or exceeds the manufacturers requirements" this is exactly what that act covers. Be careful about thinking that the Magnussen-Moss Act will cover you on putting anything you want on your truck, because it won't.
Well...it is just something to think about. If FMC cannot correct the problem, and you really LOVE the SD 6.0L, then this is a way to keep the truck and enjoy it too.
