My fiance's 2001 Ford Focus has a blinker issue. I know the blinker fluid isn't low so that can't be the prob,
but the blinker won't turn off after a turn. You can turn the wheel lock to lock and the blinker stays on, both directions. I can do a motor rebuild and a gear swap no sweat, but messin with the column just scares me. Any ideas?
From my understanding, no one in their right mind would dare try ripping apart a newer vehicles steering column for any make or model vehicle. Apparently there are a few "specialized" tools one must have to get through all of the little pivot points or something like that. I think $100 would be fine with me to get it to the dealer and let them deal with it.
Unless you have a repair book, that tells you about the switch and air bag things you might be better off with the dealer. Buy a book and look at what it will take to repair the cam cancelling part. You might have to spend more on tools, books than the $100 dealer cost and risk damageing the air bag. Good luck
Thanks guys. Think I will wait till something else goes wrong and kill 2 birds with one c-note. The power steering pump is already making noises so I am sure I won't have to wait long. Man... Ford trucks are tough as nails, but thier cars leave A LOT to be desired....
Yes, there's nothing like a controlled explosion in your face to get your attention and make you wish you'd spent the $100 (is my distaste for airbags showing?)...
