Ed, do you have a GM tranny? If not, you'll have to go to the trouble of mating the two. Also, I like FORD steering column better. For $100 bucks, I would think you could do better, but that is just my 2 cents worth. Good luck, John
Ed, keep in mind that this column does have an indicator to tell what gear you are in so you will have to add something or be forever guessing. The earlier GM van columns had the indicator but they are hard to find because many streetrodders use them.

Ok. I was wondering about the GM thing. I guess I was under the impression that you had to have a GM column due to the wiring. John I thought you used a chrysler column.
Ed,
Many, if not all aftermarket wiring kit manufacturers do design their kits around the GM column but they can be modified for most any column, the GM is just easier as far as wiring. IDIDIT and Flaming River columns have GM plugs that mate to the wiring kits.

No Ed, the previous owner had installed a column in mine from a 68 Camaro. I kept having problems with it even after rebuilding it twice! So I finally have bitten the bullet and put in a polished ss Flaming River tilt unit. On another note, have you thought about going to a floor shift for your tranny. That might make it a lot easier and cheaper to find a new column whether you decide to go to a used or new unit. My FR unit was a show special and it still cost 295 smackeroonies! Hey this would be a good article for the editor from Calssic Truck. Did you see his post for "Socal trucks?" Good luck, John
