hi all, i'd like to get a survey from those of you who have been searching for, or have bought/sold , or just flat knows the going rate for : 59 ford f-100 styleside, short w.b., all original with 55k miles, 223 ci, auto., radio delete, custom cab, small rear window, no rust, with 1 repaint -- yellow/white colors (orig. i think).
i don't want n.a.d.a. prices or anything like that! i'm looking for real prices from those who really know---the buyers/sellers.
i have been looking for some time now and some of you may recognize me from past qts. i had on another 59 i ALMOST bought
i have loc. above mentioned truck and from pictures and talking to owner, it's a very nice one---but expensive!! the only real option it has is the auto., which is one of the options i'm looking for. i wouldn't even be running this survey if the truck had the wrap-around window and factory radio!! i would have bought it by now!!
anyway, thanks to all who can share any expertise on this matter
i want to make a sound decision--one that won't bite me in the rear later on!! thanks again---------------------------pac-man
well daryl, i want to leave that part of the equation out so to try and get figures from the ones that are up to date on these trucks. putting a $ amount on it from me will only result in mostly yes or no answers. you keep watching this ad and you should come up with a fairly close estimate also. course it's hard to give any estimate with-out seeing truck, so you can only go by what i wrote and what someone thinks is "very nice"----ya know what i mean! very rarily have i found something as nice as the owner says it is! and to say a vehicle is MINT drives me nuts cause, unless it's been in a museum all it's life, that's not gonna be!!
tell me about yours, just for s&g's.---------------------pac-man
Hey Pacman, there's your solution. Butch is a VERY nice truck. Daryl has spent a lot of money and time in fixing him up. Check out his gallery. If you want a 59, you won't find many as nice as Butch. Sorry to hear about the job Daryl. But I'm sure something will open up soon! John
I will be watching this thread as I just bought a 58 and I have a 59 I am thinking selling. Both are shortbed, small window trucks but both have been hotrodded with 460's. I know that will skew the value some. There is a restored 60 in the classifieds right now. Be curious to see if he gets that price for it.
Daryl, sorry to hear about the job. Hopefully it wasn't exported like so many jobs lately.
Okay, first off, do you plan to restore this thing to exact factory specs? If so, make sure everything possible is original. Take notes of the wiring(no repo harnesses so it must be good), check for rust and bondo(the biggest price factor). The factory optioned ford-o-matic is quite rare(I got one! ). So if this truck is all original(or extremely close), has little if any rust or bondo, and is in very good condition(could you pull into a cruise in right now?) I'd say $3500-$6000. I know that a big gap, do you want to frame off restore it right after you get it? Or drive as is for awhile? No sense paying for more than you need. Hope this helps, If you can, get some pictures. That can really get me in the right ballpark. -4speed
this is an all original, with no alterations that i'm aware of--yet. paint is not perfect, front chrome bumper will need to be rechromed, but isn't rusty. it has a rear chrome bumper that looks like the original curved---but it's chrome!! i don't know if that was an option. there's not suppose to be any bondo or metal repair done--or needing to be done----------but you know how that goes! i plan on questioning the owner more on that subject, after i determine prices. i believe you could pull into a cruise-in with it now! i'm not looking for one that will need to have a frame off---i have one of those right now! i have pictures--i'll see if i can post them . thanks, pac-man
Cool, the factory chrome bumpers were an option. The way you described it, it sound like a $4000+ truck for sure. If you can't post the pictures, e-mail me at mr4speedford @ neo.rr.com(take the spaces out between the @ sign.) -4speed
