Your machinist should be able to get any parts that you need. You can also get rebuild kits from PAW or other sources. You will not know what kit to get until the machinist has examined your parts.

Do you have a drivetrain to mate up with the engine to drop into the other vehicle?

Sounds like an odd swap. Likely nothing will match or bolt up. You will be losing all the EFI and computer stuff, and making the truck unable to pass any smog test in any state.

When you rebuild the '71, you won't be able to get the flat top pistons it had standard, so you'll be losing compression. You'll have to use a C-6 tranny that will bolt up to the 400, which may or may not bolt into the truck. You'll probably have to change the driveshaft, have it shortened or lengthened.

In other words, this will be expensive and time consuming and the result might not be what you envision. IMO, I'd build a 351W for that truck, which will bolt in, and save the 400 for something it would be more at home in.

I think its an excellent idea.

The C6 will bolt right in, your driveshaft is too long right now, good thing its easier to shorten one than to lengthen one.

You will need the 400 motor mounts from the car, as these are motor specific, they should fit right in.

Yes the emmisions stuff is going to bite you, if you live in a state where they require any kind of inspection you are doomed. There is no way this motor will smog like a 351W, and it sure won't look like one to any inspector.
