Need help identifying parts required to install horn ring.
Came across a horn ring, just the ring, for my 65. Checked out shop manual, and Ford parts catalog for diagram, but no help. Appears i need a small horn button, and there must be some type of retainer the ring mounts to, which inserts into the steering wheel. Could not find anything in part catalogs.
Anyone know what items are needed, and any suggestion where to begin looking for them. Wonder if they also came out in certain year(s) car so i can widen the search.
Any input would be appreciated.
thanx,
dave

Dave, Presuming you have a horn button on your truck now that is functioning properly, tis only a matter of pressing in while turning counterclockwise and reverseing the action with the new ring.
Be careful and lift the button off gently, there is a spring under there that can come out flying and become the hardest thing in the world to find.
If my recall is working the ring is all that is needed..
After you posted i pulled horn button off another of my 65's and see what you are referring to. The mount used for the 'horn button' can be installed on the 'horn ring'. --Dah--. Finding the smaller button that goes with the horn ring may be a task.
Thanx again, really appreciate it.

I don't understand, the ring that was on my 66 CC was one piece and I am going from memory, but you should be able to take one off and put the other in it's place with no other parts exchange, no??
Found 3 mounting tabs on back of ring the retainer screws into. Same set-up as the horn button, only there is a center piece needed to fill the smaller hole that is inserted before securing the retainer.
Thanks ddavidv, will contact Dennis C., looks like primarily looking for that Ford script center piece.
