I have a 1986 F250 4 wheel drive. The bolt that the 4W shift lever pivots on fell out and Ford says it's obsolete. Its a NP 208 transfer case and an automatic transmission.
The bolt is shouldered, goes through a plastic or nylon sleeve through the shift lever, and screws into the side of the transmission. It should be the same on Bronco, F150, F250 and F350, but I'm not positive. Can anyone help?
any 4x4 f-150 from 80-86 should work, or bronco for that matter. My bw1345 (f-250) the bolt with the same description, but I don't know if it'd be the same thread or not..
Thanks for the replies. The bolt threads into the transmission not the NP208 transfer case, so do you think it would be the same on the other makes? Or would they use a different shifter assembly because they would be using a different transmission?
I'm new to this and I don't know who the other 2 companies are. I assume GM and Dodge? Forgive my ignorance...
The bolt that the transfer case lever pivots on should be the same on all trucks that use the same transmission/transfer case combo (Broncos and F-trucks).
If the part is obsolete, the junkyard is probably the best source for a direct replacement.
As an alternative, you could find a standard bolt with the correct thread and length, and just fabricate a spacer from steel tubing to fit the bushings.
