My Dealers Diesel just went up in steam today. 51 days and 2759 miles after install. Called for warranty claim and they want me to pull heads to see what failed.
I AM ****ED cause the down time to do a rebuild was why I paid for the drop in motor to begin with. Now I am looking at rebuilding a new motor and down time of who knows what.

Yeah they are going to cover parts and labor 100% but I am still walking and since I plow snow we have three days of snow in the forcast starting tomorrow.
thats a bitch & you know best what I mean
Sorry for you & i'm wheeless from a fuelling error that is being handle quite diplomaticly
Hope you get the same treatment.
later,Wayne
What did she cough like, symptoms, abnormalties??
I went to some friends of mine that have a repair shop to do the work. They helped me put the engine in back in December. I have spent most of two days helping them with the cars and trucks they had scheduled to work on so we could get mine in the schedule.
Have the motor out of the truck and on the floor as of this evening. Tomorrow we pull it apart to see what let loose for sure.
Dealers Diesel want me to settle for replacement heads if that is the problem, they will send me a complete motor if the block is the problem. So far they have said parts and labor covered 100%.
I am almost ready to demand a new motor just because I bought a complete drop in motor so I did not have to have all this down time. If I wanted to rebuild the motor I could have rebuilt the one I took out. Now I am rebuilding a motor with 2759 miles on it.
I am not a happy camper right now.
I just picked up a rocker arm assembly for mine this afternoon,I still haven't figured out my noise problem. I have a couple of oil leaks that I don't think should be there given the mileage on the motor so my opinion on DEALERS/REVISTA is beginning to shift somewhat.
Tearing your engine down to determine the problem is "de caca de toro", I would want to know when a new drop-in will be delivered, if they want to know what the problem is tell them to send a truck to the house to pick up the "steam jenny" and figure it out themselves or they can communicate with your favorite "ambulance chaser". Keep me posted, let me know if I can help. D#*#!
block cracked between 6 & 8 cylinder
head gasket leaking from rear of cylinder 8 water passage to cylinder 8
block head deck had so much oil on it the rubber around the water passage slid out of place
head bolts torqued to 75 ft lbs
intake manifold bolts over cylinder 7 both stripped out completely
cylinder head bolts had so much oil under them they probably never would torque right
turbo oil supply line fittings finger tight
misaligned intake manifold gasket
intake manifold out of alignment so bad that intake manifold bolts cut threads in the holes
improper valve spring clearances between spring coils
rocker assemblies not torqued down properly
I am sick to my stomach
I mean it when I say, let me know if I can help. I'm thinking about calling them myself and screwing with them over this.
In all honesty my engine was a Dealers Direct purchased thru my buddy at the Ford Dealer in Wilson NC(Lee Motor Co.) in the spring of 98. Given the fact that the name has been changed to Revista there must have been a buyout,D*#* sure doesn't sound like forward progress huh.
I know your sick, but your post brought a question to mind, what is the torque spec on the rocker arms? I looked in Haynes and the 84 Ford D Engine manual and didn't see it other the listing the specs. for bolt diameter.
I've got some good contacts on truck stuff, seriously let me know if I can hook you up in any way. Keep me posted, hang in there

The engine I have now is so bad that I almost want to tear down and reassemble the replacement before it goes in my truck.
They must have given the quality control department a vacation in South America or somewhere far away. My weed wacker assembled in Mexico has better quality control than this motor has that is a good old USA product assembled in Minnesota, musta been a cold day in ____ when they put this one together.

Then we found the crack between cylinder 6 and 8 so it had to come out anyway.
So far they are paying for everything.
I am gonna chew some ____ monday though, I can not believe the QC department let that engine out of the plant.
We only had an inch of snow, if we would have had any more they were also getting a bill for lost income.
If they give me any crap you guys will be seeing pictures after a complete tear down of the motor.
Tuesday I was told they did not have a 7.3 turbo to ship, but it was being assembled and would ship Wednesday. This will put it here Friday or Monday.
Reading between the lines I think they checked several motors in stock and found some with the same problems mine had, so they are building them again.
I have been assured that I will not have the same problem again with the next motor.
I am wondering, but this has been an expensive ordeal for them covering all labor for remove and replace plus diagnostics, and four freight bills as well as two motors.
I will keep you all informed as this unfolds over the next few months once the new one is installed.
I was one very happy camper for the first 2750 miles, lots of power and smooth as silk.
So far I can not complain about the warranty guys handling this other than it is taking a little longer than I would have liked.
Thank god for no snow which would put me in a very bad way with my snow customers.
