New to the board. Love the site. Well my mind is pretty much made up I should be ordering a 6.0 in the next few month's. I went and test drove one this morning, I thought it had a little more pep than my 7.3, but it sure was loud. Checked under the hood no insulation, I went to talk to the Diesel Mechanic he's been there for about 15 years asked about the pilot injection. He said on all the 2004's they are recieving the Pilot Injection is disabled, he attempted to explain it, Something to do with the Romp and Erratic idle in the 2003's. Could someone maybe explain this Pilot Injection to me and What is the difference between Ford's Pilot Injection and Dodge's Common Rail. Thanks.
Mine is a 2004 Chassis with 2003 Engine, and my buddys is a 2004 Chassis with 2004 Engine and his is much quieter at idle than mine. You think mine has Pilot Injection and his doesn't?
I'm pretty new here, too, but from what I have gathered the 04's do not have pilot injection. According to more than one recognized source, they are manipulating the ICP to reduce sound levels at idle.
