Wrong DW2455, there IS a difference. In 1996 Ford got the bright idea to relocate the O2 Sensor bungs from the Y pipe to the manifolds. They only did this on the 96 5.0L engine in the Bronco.
Did not do it on any other vehicle, ever. That is why many exhaust manufacturers only make headers or Y pipes for Bronco 5.0L up through 95. The 96 application is way too limited for them to bother with, not enough money in it.
okay cool thanks for the corection, i didnt know that, but still the headers would be usable theres a simple solution: any reputable muffler shop could weld in a 02 sensor bung in the piupe just below the header flang, problem solved . right? DW
Yup, if you wanted to go that way. But if you install 95 headers on a 96, the manufacturers warranty on the headers is void. Plus the extra cost and time to remove the Y, take it to a shop, pay to have the bungs installed.
Why bother when you can get the right headers? They are there, you just have to look for them.
summit has them for $160 i dont really care how they look just want somemore power, so now my question is should i get this or a K&H Intake for $230 whats the best bang for the buck?

get the headers and make your own high flow intake. unless you need that little CARB sticker on it for visual inspection.
Hahaha last time i got a new inspection sticker on my 84 crown vic the mechanic was knockin out chunks of my frame with a screwdriver so i dont think i need a CARB sticker. what kind of Hp and gas milage increases can i expect?

Be careful of the Summit headers. As I said before, most people have had to modify them to get them to bolt up. There are several posts elsewhere on the board. The bolt holes often do not line up correctly requiring grinding. Many have also complained that the Summit headers have serious problems with plug wire clearance. Most who have posted about them have either replaced or returned Summit headers that they purchased.
They come at a great price, but you get what you pay for. Summit does not make them, they buy cheap second rate versions made by Pace Setter, Heddman, and a couple of other companies that I cannot remember right now. These are headers that the manufacturers would not sell under their own name.
Yes, the JBAs or Bassanis are almost twice as much, but come with quality, durability, and no installation headaches.

The homemade high flow intake many of you have accomplished with your Broncs doesn't work out on the 96 MAF trucks. K&N Aircharger is the way to go. Dyarumian, you said $230 for the intake so it sounds like you are on the right track.
I had installed the K&N Gen I FIPK on my Bronc long before they started making the Aircharger. I replaced my FIPK with the Aircharger a couple of months ago, and I love it. If you want to see how it looks, there are pictures in my gallery. More/better pictures on my website.
I installed K&N part # 63-1066.
I agree with DW2455 that doing the headers first is the way to go. Not much point in giving your rig the ability to breathe deeply if it has to exhale through a straw.

If you buy quality headers that bolt up without modifications, and do not give your exhaust guy a migraine, he should not charge you too much. I called my exhaust guy and asked him, he told me he usually charges about $100.00 labor to install headers.
Having said that, if the headers are good quality and line up correctly, there is no reason even a novice mechanic cannot do them at home. The biggest headache is getting the factory manifold to Y pipe bolts free, but since most quality headers come with brand new hardware, you can get a little destructive.
I just recently bought a set of Sunnit headers for my 92 5.0, and as BigRed said, be careful!. I had to Beat on the #7 tube to get the bolt to go in the flange. They bolted up to the heads fine, other than the typical PITA of tightening header bolts. I had to modify the Dipstick tube bracket, the motor pulling mounts, air tube bracket and intake support bracket. Then the collector was too big for the stock y-pipe, so I ultimately took it in to a muffler shop and paid $140 to modify the stock y-pipe to fit the headers. In case you missed that, However I called Summit and with a little persistance, I got them to reimburse me half the Modification charge. . They do have the 02 sensor bungs in the header though, and come with plugs in case you don't use them.
