making smog pump usefull

Yesterday I took the hose off of the air pump and it was pushing alot of air
what do you guys think it would do if i took the hose off of the smog pump and ran a piece of 3/4 heater hose from the pump to the top of the air box would it be helpful or would it just blow the extra air out the air intake.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I don't think that would help much. it'd possible blow it back out, and it would probably be hot anyways.

I was thinking about turning one into an air compressor, but I don't know if it has enough cfm for that.

It won't add a thing. To get the combination of CFM and pressure required to add any power you need a much larger, more robust pump and a much higher HP drive

I knew a guy who did that on a '78 Monte. It actually seemed to help a bit - don't remember the details though. He probably ran it inline with the intake snout, which is just about impossible with our set-up.
