Okay!! Have read and searched on glow plugs and it seems there are lots of instructions on 97 and older trucks for this. Would some one point me in the right direction (links, sites) for me to check and see if I have some bad plugs on my 2000 PSD. It is getting really hard to start on these cold mornings. (temp just around 25F or so. Not that cold. I need to get this handled soon. Really irritating having to cycle 5 or 6 times just to start.
SimCity, if you have to cycle multiple times to start and it works your problem is probably not the relay but the glow plugs themselves. How many miles on your truck? The 5 year / 100,000 mile warranty covers the glow plug system too.
The information I have is for the 94-97 trucks, there were a few changes in the newer ones but the principles are the same. The glow plug relay looks more like a solenoid, on your truck I believe it is in the "V" of the engine to the passenger side and slightly behind the fuel filter housing. There may be two there, one for the glow plugs and one for an intake air heater. I have not worked on a 2002 yet so I am not sure. Hopefully this will get you started.
