Condenser
Hello everyone I noticed on my 78 F250 that there is a condenser mounted to the coil. Mine is missing the wire that comes out of it. How important is this condenser and were does the wire go?

Torque is correct. It is a noise suppression condensor to keep engine noise off the radio. There should be one on the coil and another coming off the voltage regulator.
I don't think it's aftermarket though. My wiring diagrams for my 78 F150 in the Haynes manual show them in both places. I didn't have any on mine when I bought it, but I added them. Without them, I couldn't even use a battery powered hand held CB radio in the truck the static was so bad.
I got mine at a swap meet for a buck a piece. Couldn't find them anywhere else, but you might try the HELP section of your local auto parts store.

It hooks to the extra red wire on the coil connector.

It's possible that not all engines had the one on the coil. I'll check my diagrams again. I put one on the coil of my 460 because there wasn't one there, but there was one on my 351.

My wiring diagrams are not OEM and are very poor 
But then I could rewire one of these old beaters in my sleep. When I was a kid and working in a service station I used to make money on the side rewiring old farm trucks, adding turn signals, clearance lights, etc etc.
