Question Spindle Assembly Removal

I have a 2wd 75 F100 and I am basically rebuilding the whole front end. I have removed the tie rod and drag link and now I am trying to get the spindle assemblies off. I am just going by my Haynes manual, so I am not sure what the best way is to drive out the pin that holds the spindle assembly on the axle. I have removed the bolt that goes through the side of the pin that holds the pin in place, but the pin itself will not budge. I spent about an hour tonight beating it with a hammer and punch, with no results. Is there a better way to do this? Also, does the direction matter? Should I be knocking it downwards and out or upwards and out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Take your axle out and take it to a shop. The shop can then put new bushings in etc. It takes special tools.

Thanks for the info. The manual says nothing about needing specials tools to drive out the pin. I'll just move on to something else for now and take it in the shop when I get the chance.

It takes a shop press and reamers to replace the bushings.
