Hey all, was gonna start a new thread but figured I'd throw it in here. My last tank dropped 3mpg!! I use the same station every tank and all of a sudden it dropped from an average of 10.8 to 7.5!! I'm sure the cold weather has something to do with it but it shouldn't cause that much of a drop?
Already on this tank, I've gone 31 miles and used almost 1/4 of a tank. I usually get 70- 80 miles before hitting the 1/4 mark. Same gas from same station? Could it be bad gas? I don't drive a lot during the winter, live less than 2 miles to work so go about 2 -3 weeks on a tank of gas.
Truck is 2003 F250CC 4x4, 5.4, 3.73 and 305's. Just turned 11,000 miles. Thanks in advance!!

When it gets down to 5 mpg, SELL! SELL! (Buy Low Sell High)
But on a serious note (F major) gas mileage takes a big hit when it gets cold and you take short trips. I drive 2.7 miles one-way to work and when it gets really cold (in the 20's, yes that's really cold for TX) the mpg's have gone as low as 9 mpg. I usually get around 13 in the summer.

I bought mine (below) new and have kept a running gas log that lists a low of 13.8 when brand new and a high of 16.2 on the highway doing around 65 mph. The running total to date average is 14.4. I'm an old guy who cruises around 50 mph most of the time (except when traffic demands otherwise). My truck is loaded with three tool boxes and right now, has 350 lbs of sand bags in the bed as well. The above figures reflect the load year around. ........As for Crownie1, I'd run a couple more tanks before making any conclusions (assuming its performing okay). Other than tools boxes, running boards, cab rack and rear sway bars, there are no other mods....also has stock wheels and tires .....mileage to date is 35,000. No return visits to the dealer either...runs great. Do my own maintenance.

2004 F250 4x4 S Cab Short Bed 3.73 Gears 5.4 Eng.
Its about 3 months old 1700 miles. Took my wife to Doctor out of town. About 80 miles round trip, got 11 mpg, very disappointed. The truck I had before this one(2001 F150 S crew 3.55 gears 5.4 eng.) I got 18 mpg on a trip to South Carolina, and that was one week after I had bought it.
