stoplight racing is fun, 'cept when u get schooled by a chebbie. but not just any chebbie, a piece of crap 69-70ish one w/ more rust than a sunken barge. light turned green both of us launched good, he was ahead alittle, but still bumper to bumper. i started to gain on him. until he shifted, cause he jumped ahead by about half a foot. this repeated as he shifted gears. i had to let him go cause the road goes down to one lane there. but it was fun though. i'd have had on the top end though. i know this topic has been posted b4, but u know guys like talking bout this stuff. made my day.... i wanna to him to the strip- if we had one. stupid auburn college town. -wb

sounds like you had fun, i havnt been able to race anybody for quite a while sense i tore my truck down but it sure was fun when i did, now im usually just the passenger in a race.
billybob, ive done the same thing, actually do it alot. That and 10 mph rolling stomp races. I was in a town close to me that has a strip but is closed this time of year, anyway i pulled up to an old chevy that had more rust holes than u could imagine. We launched when the light turned green, i got him on the launch and then he ate me for lunch, lol. It was a bad day that day.
My friends 99 F150 with the v6 can keep up with me on the 10 mph stomp. But ive also beat chevy's like that as well, and have also beat chevy's from the light. Automatic, drop it down to first and manually shift it, and that thing has one hell of a launch to it, lol.
We just this morning had two more young people get killed street drag racing, in Orlando, Florida, I wish you and your friends would go to the Orlando Sentinel's website and look up the article, it was a pretty ugly mess, again two young, promising lives lost, and two more in critical condition.
Please, if you want to drag race FIND a legal dragstrip, even if it means renting trailers to get your vehicles to it.
that's sorry to hear, but today was a spur of the moment deal. i cant say anything against what u said, a waste of death is a waste of death. thats why i dissed auburn for a LACK of a dragstrip. i'd totally go there. whats that orlando sentinel link?

'You got a V8?'
I NEVER race on the street. Too many bad things can happen. I've been drilling that fact into my 19 year old's head, too. We both take our 94 Z28's to the strip to do our racing. It's legit, more fun and you get a slip telling you how fast you ran, no tall tales.
We used to have an open stretch of county road that had a couple miles visibility both ways. I was 17 and that was 35 years ago. I'd do it again. But in a city with intersections? Way, way stupid.
Hang10: Yea, we're fans of Keeping Up Appearances, (poor Richard)
And I really don't know where the Orlando Sentinel's link is, but try this: www.Orlandosentinel.com the article is most likely in todays paper (Wednesday) shouldn't be too hard to find.
Racing on a street is just plain stupid. Like Supercab said, find a strip or don't race at all!! Too many people get killed or injured everyday because of street racing.

Yea, we had one killed last night and two killed last weekend in Atlanta. Another street racer who had killed his two best friends in the crash is now on trial for murder. He may spend most of the rest of his life in jail thinking about his 2 dead friends.
Ive raced in town several times
But its at the last stoplight going out of town, and theres NOTHING past that light, no intersections for about 5 miles. We race about a 1/4 mile and stop.
Or we go out of town to Lollie Bottoms, and race there straight stetches with 2 fields on each side
On Edit
Check out the storying of the 14 y/o bleeding to death from a cut to his throat.
What a shame, waste of a good life
