I have a 91 explorer, and I have been diagnosing some sort of a problem with the electronic 4x4 shift. I read through some of the websites that you guys have provided, and I searched here for the answer but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have gone as far as I can with diagnosing without the replacement of parts. I have narrowed the problem down to the control module (I have already checked out the shift motor)
So, my question is-- Can I take the control module out of another explorer (of a different year) and put it in this explorer to see if it is the problem? Basically, are the modules compatable between years? I think the explorer I am taking it out of is a 93---- I know it is pre-96.
thanks for any info
