Post F250 CA registration fees

I know that the F250 means you drive a heavy truck and that CA DMV nails you for a stiff registration "commercial vehicle" fee.
Anyone know how much that is in CA?
thanks

If your truck is brand new, the fees are 2% of the purchase price. The fees on my 2001 when I bought it were on the high side of $700. Since the fee reduction went into effect the second year dropped to about $ 365.
Hope this helps.

And I was complaining about $40.00 a year. How can they justify such a high rate in CA?

I just bought mine last month and it was abut $430.
If you don't pay you don't drive it on the road.
What are you gonna do???

F250 CA registration fees

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Apr-02 AT 11:25 AM (EST)]I see you have a "CC". So just a tip for registration in Kalifornia. The weight fees for your 'commerical' vehicle, is what is doubling your registration costs. The definition of a 'commerical' vehicle (in regards to pick-ups), is "an open bed less then 9 feet with the primary purpose of hauling property". I believe since you have four doors and seating for 5-6, the primary purpose of your truck is to haul passengers (wink, wink). So it should be a UT code (utility).
Or put a shell or bed cover (soft or hard) on your truck, and hence no "open bed", and the lose of the dreaded 'commerical' rating.

Just don't get caught running without the cover or cap though. A buddy of mine got nailed for this without the "commercial" tag. It was big bucks as I remember.

Some people here will whine just paying the $15.00/year to drive in our state. Unbelievable:-X23
