$65.00 from Ford (Plus tax) for the LOM then another $55.00 (I think) for the Multi-function switch. Not to bad all things considered. I checked at Napa but they said they did not carry the LOM. I think though that Ford calls it a shift control module because the dealer had a hard time locating it via the name Lamp Out Module, but when I told them where it was, they knew exactly what I was talking about and got it. The name in their system though was a shift control module with a secondary name of Lamp Out Module. Made me a little uncertain until I looked at the part.

Awesome! Glad you got your main problems fixed. Parts are a little too expensive though because you can get it online a lot cheaper but it's alright, you need your lights to drive at night.

You probably saved around 100 bucks by doing it yourself. Not bad.

The numbers I thought I had read was $300.00 for replacement of the LOM from a Ford Dealer, and then I imagine another $135.00 for the multi-function switch (part was $55.00 from Napa, and then 1 hr of labor at $85.00/hr from your local mechanic) so I saved myself a few hundred. If not, oh well, the lights work and that's what's important.

OUCH, I knew there was a reason why I would never take one of my Fords to the dealer for things that I cant/wont fix myself. BTW, i hope that Ford us upgraded the LOM from "garbage" status.

The new one looked just as well made as the old. Maybe though they are paying the Chinese a little more to make them and they are better made. We'll just have to see. The unit felt exactly the same weight, and it appeared identical on the exterior, so I imagine there have not been any major improvements.

Question 95 Explorer EB headlight/foglights won't work

Well, this thread was most helpful in terms of diagnosing what the problem was. I will repost with the final solution/resolution when we get done. I gathered the problem is either the Multi-function stalk or the LOM.

Per the forum advice, I went to the dealer and picked up a new Multi-function switch (aka Turn Stalk). They are very proud of this part at $68. I took out the screws to remove the upper and lower steering column shrould. Before I break anything trying to get it off, does anyone have detailed instructions on how to remove it? It appears that I need to remove the instrument pod trim and I also need to get the tilt steering **** off somehow. The hole on the lower shroud doesn't seem to be big enough to get it off without taking the **** off. Tried to pull it and unscrew it, but didn't want to start applying enough pressure to break it. Can anyone help here?

With insightful help from 96explorereddieb, I was able to remove the steering column shroud and the tilt steering wheel lever. I didn't need to remove the ignition as suggested, but I did need to remove the lower dash trim piece to get the clearance I needed to get the lower shroud out. I will post more detailed instructions when I get this *@#$ problem solved.

Unfortunately, changing out the MFS (aka turn signal stalk did *not* solve the problem). I now suspect the LOM. Would anyone happen to know where it's located and how to get it out? Also unfortunately, the dealer is closed today, so I'll need to pick up the part tomorrow, but I did see the earlier post where someone had to resolder a connection.
