Question C-6 Tranny Advice

Need a little advice/help! Got an 87 F-150. C-6 Transmission. I cant get 3rd gear attal. Have to let off pedal to get to 2nd. Tromp on it and its back in first at 60 MPH. Changed 7qts fluid and filter. (Fluid was pretty burned but no metal frags in there) Added slick 50 for transmisions drove around all day, replaced modulator with a new adjustable. Still no change. DO I have a valve body prob that a shift kit might fix, could it be a governor issue, or do I scrap it and get one off a wreck?

Any luck on solving your tranny issue? I have a 90 F-350 with the same symptoms. I heard it might be a broken spring in the valve body, but have not had a chance to check it yet. It's the plan for this weekend.

Thumbs up

I had No Luck attal. Ended up scrappin it and opting for a c6 out of an 85 Ford van. That in itself caused a whole new can of worms to open, cause as it turned out, there were 7 teeth on the output shaft for the speedometer on the original tranny and the new one has 9. Took me a little bit of research, but I finally got a configurator off the internet to do the work for me, in telling me how many teeth on the driven gear were needed to get my speedometer back to normal.

Sorry yours turned into a pain. After taking mine apart and not finding anything in the valve body. We keep looking and found that the vacum line was un-hooked. Works great.
