I recently got an '01 F350 w/ a SCMT with it. I have been reading many of the posts and it seems a chip/tuner should come last when adding mods. This is my first diesel and I was wondering if I should reset back to stock until I can install intake and exhaust? Also, if I do the intake first, how much will that effect exhaust? Will the increased airflow cause a "choking effect" because exhaust is still stock? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I would say to get a pyrometer as soon as possible to monitor you egt's. If they are too high, definatly detune. It's sounds like you already know what you have to do. You just gotta ask yourself how long you are willing to risk it. Do the exhaust and a I would recomend a Tymar intake. You'll be glad you did.
My advice is to lay the foundation before adding power. The foundation consistes of an intake, exhaust, and gauges. You might want to consider some tranny mods, too, if you have an automatic.
After those are in place, then add the chip or tuner.
Note: when I say 'intake", I'm specifically referring to a TYMAR.
Thanks for the info! I ordered Tymar parts today, can't wait to get that put on. I'll have to wait a few weeks the get exhaust I also have a wicked wheel, but have not installed it yet. Any ideas if that will help EGT's?
