Looking for a little help. I'll try to keep it brief. 460 engine -4x4 -411 gears-140,000miles highway---was running great-out of the blue started losing power going up hill-took it home. So far this is what I found. fuel pressure 17psi key on 35psi at idle
changed fuel filter- air filter-vacuum 19 and steady-timing 10 btdc
computer advances timing properly - runs great at idle but when trying to accelerate it bogs down at about 30mph. Tried switching tanks -did'nt help.Any suggestions would be humbly accepted and appreciated.
Yea, I would look at the catalytic converter on that. Get it done soon, check those downrigger cables it's almost time...pulled a few 12-13" Kokes in at Melones last week, should be some good ones this year!
I dont want to sound like a moron but have you checked your oil. I have an 88 SD with a 460 and every thing was fine until I started going up a hill one day. Something was telling me to check the oil. When I did check I found out I was down about 4 qts! I couldnt believe it. Filled it up and away I went.
Thank you ,Gentlemen. The cat was definitely clogged.Ford did a good job on clamps and hangers in this one.It is a bolt on, but well mounted.Any tips for r/r?
