Try contacting our parts store, they may be able to answer your question and you might find a better price.

I think your 96 engine has an intake with an integral throttle body, so changing to a larger throttle body is not a bolt on option. The 96 has a conical air cleaner style and the 98 has a flat panel air cleaner. I would call K&N directly and ask them if their part will work on a 96.

K&N doesn't make a FIPK for the 93-97 3.0L. You have to use a universal cold air induction kit and get a conical K&N filter seperately. It's not difficult, you get the same results and it's cheaper than buying the K&N kit.

You can get a free flow aircleaner kit from Streetsmart design. I put one of theirs for a 97 on my 94 4.0, the big difference is that the 93-96 upper radiator hose sits higher than the 97 on. I had/have no problems with the install, and after I did the install then called them and told them what I found they started to list the older models. The kit was around $175 for a chrome tube, all the silicone joints, the adapter for the aircleaner (K&N) and a bracket to hold the MAF.

I dont have their URL to link to but do a search for the above and you will find them.

I also have a 2.5inch exhaust sytem from the Y pipe, a free flow cat, a magna flo muffler. The shop used just a standard bender but limited the amount and degree of bend in the system, keeping it fairly straight/flat.

You will need both intake and exhaust system to see any real improvement.
