6.9 noise/ need help

with the engine idling and carefully around moving parts, use a wrench to loosen the fuel line on the top of the nozzle. You only want to loosen them slightly to make fuel come out a little. This will "short" out the individual injector. If there is no difference in the sound, retighten it and move on to the next one but take your time to make sure fuel levels have come back to the whole system ... kind of levels out the pressure. Do this to all the injecotrs and pay attention to idle and sound. If you find one that makes no difference, that is probably the cultprit. If you dont find any problems that way, i'd start looking a little deeper into the engine ... valve system etc, by removing the covers. You may be hearing fuel knock too caused by fuel pressure and not too much to do to fix that. Its a diesel thing. Good luck and be careful around moving parts. Keep us posted.
You probably ought to call them and get a copy of the build ticket
on your engine,it might be nice to know how many sleeves etc.
I will use them again if the need arises.
Any thoughts on my problem I'm about to go nuts trying to nail this down?
Most any of the things that come to mind would show up in other places such as oil loss, water loss, power loss.
Strange that the problem is at the max torque range but not louder at the higher RPM range.
Is your oil pressure dropping off at the trouble range? The lifters are hydraulic and I have seen hydraulic lifters make more noise at a particular RPM range.
As soon as I saw Dealers I was instantly interested in your problem.
