What's missing in this price?

Looking for a decent DVD system but don't want to pay a ton of money. Went to Crutchfield website, and saw that Sony is offering an all in one DVD system for $799. That is in the area of what I want to pay.

However, when I priced out the monitor separately on the site, it lists for $699.....

So, if the system is only $100 more than the monitor sold seperately, where are they making up the difference? A sup par DVD player?? What am I missing---or is this really a great deal?

Crutchfield is pretty good about discounts on packages. You are getting a discount for buying the monitor AND the DVD player. Try to buy that same DVD player from them for $100 and see what they say.

I bought a Blaupunkt DVD ME1 for around $127 from a site I found on the web. Crutchfield wanted over $200 for the same player. I bought my Clarion monitor off of eBay for $239. Crutchfield wanted $349.

In my experience, Crutchfield usually isn't the lowest priced. But they are good to do business with. For example, on the monitor above, they would throw in a free mounting bezel (picture below)with the monitor. I did end up buying that bezel from Crutchfield for $50 and it included installation instructions, all the hardware, and a Ford radio removal tool.

So shop around. But you may get some extras/freebies by going with Crutchfield.
