Headgaskets
Hows it going guys,got a stupid question a freind tried to tell me that even if you have already torked the head gaskets you can still take the heads of and reuse the gaskets as long as the engine has never been run,I told him it didn't matter wether it was run or not once the gasket was crushed it would be garbage if you removed it.Just want to clear this up beafore something expensive happens.

The newer gaskets have 'micro-beads' of stuff that I think are ruptured when the temp gets hot. *think*. The older sandwich style probably could be used with no ill effect if the engine hasn't been run. I'd inspect the newer styles very carefully before use. Lots of other gaskets I will re-use with no qualms. Like the upper to lower intake manifold gasket on the 3.0. Just move it around til it fits in place, and tighten.
Given what may be invested in a rebuild, new gaskets may be cheaper in the short and long run...
