I have a 98 Ranger 2.5L that was wrecked last spring. I used the insurance money to buy a gibson exhaust, superchip, homemade air intake with a K & N filter, O2 sensor, and power steering pump. The other night I was beat by a 92 nissan 240sx 4 cyl. I believe my modifications should of smoked him. My truck feels as if it is holding back power. I get 0-60 in 12 secs. Not bad for a four. But I must be overlooking something that is restricting my truck from really moving. Any thoughts?
Thank you Caplax for bring up the one obvious thing.
The 240sx weighs at least 500 lb's less than a Ranger...
Don't worry superranger. You're mods really didn't add power that is noticeable. The Nissan has about 30 horsepower on you and is, well, a car!

Exhaust, K&N give about 5 ponies.
O2 and P/S = good maintenance.
As for the "holding back power", well, how do I put this: You got all the power you could from the truck. It is still a STOCK engine and any engine's strength is no better than it's weakest points--in a 2.5L, that's mainly all the internals.
You'll beat the 240 after you basically either swap to a 302 or do a performance rebuild where you end up with the engine block being your only factory piece left!
