94 Ranger block heater install

My 94 rangers block heater fell out today and I assume the tightening wings have correded off. The heater is on the passenger side front of block. Just by looking it seems that exhaust manifold and motor mount may have to come off to replace. Just wondering if this is the case. My service manual does not cover this. Any ideas would be gratefully apprec.

You must have a V6 if it is on the passenger side. I have been able to change/install block heaters through the fender well. Remove the wheel/tire and heat up the plastic apron. Then you should be able to bend it back enough to work between the bottom of the apron and the top of the frame. You will not have to remove any other engine components that way. If you have no way to heat up the apron enough to make it pliable, you can remove it with 8 or so sheet metal screws and some push ins.

Thanks Ranger Pat. That worked really well. You saved me a ton of work and I really appreciate it. The tightening wings had broke. Glad I was only a couple of miles from home
