Transmission ID

I have a few different trucks at work and I would like to know what transmissions are in them just by giving you some specs. I know I can look at the door tag but some tags are gone. Just reply by listing the number then letting me know.

1) 1985 Ford F-150. 3 speed PLUS OD manual tranny. Also, what kind of fluid does this transmission take?

2) 1987 Ford F-250. It is an overdrive automatic transmission. It has P-R-N-OD-D-1

3) 1989 Ford F150. It is a 3 speed automatic transmission. It has P-R-N-D-2-1

4) 1991 Ford F-350 It is an overdrive automatic transmission. It has P-R-N-D-2-1 plus an overdrive button.

5) 1979 Ford F-350 with a 4 speed manual transmission. 1st gear is granny low.

6) 1979 Ford Bronco. It is a 3 speed automatic transmission. It has P-R-N-D-2-1 This truck is 4x4 if that makes a difference.

How reliable are each of these trannies? Thanks guys!

-Matt

(1) Mitsubishi

(2) AOD

(3) C6

(4) E40D ? (I'm guessing)

(5) NP435 or T-18 (best guess)

(6) C6

I believe (1) takes ATF (can't remember for sure and to tired to go look it up)

All the above are reliable, both by brother's and my nephews 87 F-150's with the Mitsubishi trans have over 180k wiith no problems.

If I am wrong on any of the above info, I'm sure someone will correct me

The 3 speed/OD is actually a Tremec built Ford unit, based loosley on the toploader... It takes 80W90...

Ford only used Mitsu trasmissions in Rangers, the F150 5 speed box is build by Mazda

Depending on where reverse is on the 3 speed with overdrive it could be a single rail overdrive as well. I highly doubt it is a Mitsubishi transmission.

The shift pattern is as follows:

1 3
I--I--I
2 OD R

I have also heard that this transmission takes ATF. I don't have door jam sticker so I can't find out for sure.

Boss358: The TOD and SROD are the same basic aluminum cased transmission built by Tremec, onlt the SROD's problematic shift linkage was replaced with a top cover shifter setup like any other truck transmission.

For 1985, the specified lube for all manual transmissions is gear oil, only the transfer cases took ATF.
