ive noticed two threads have been locked. i apologize for being a part of a "flamewar". however, i didnt think there was anything wrong with debating and good humored ribbing. i doubt anyone took anything personally, i know i didnt. i guess the hippie joke was a little too much . i do wish we could continue the debate, as there was good information posted, i think both of us knew what we were talking about and brought a good discussion to the board. however it is your call, and i will post respectivley.
I've repeatedly asked, hinted and told users that the site guidelines must be adhered to --- and no one listens.
Any threads with flame wars from this point forward will be locked. Any users who continue the behavior after being warned will be booted. Pig Pen has gotten out of control and changes are being made because of it.
In my short life time of 52 years, I've found that there are two subjects that friends don't debate and remain friends for long. Politics and religion. It's nearly impossible to have sane and clean debate when talking about things that so drastically affect each of us. Note..I said nearly impossible. Politics and religion are emotional topics and emotions are sure to surface if certain conversations are allowed to continue....as they inevitably have. That's why I don't frequent the pen as often as I used to. I read some posts, and find them to be so blatantly irrational that I have to leave and go back to GC.
i see no flamewar in my posts, the only questionable content was my hippie joke. take a look at some of the other posts here... im not the one making racial jokes...
just beacuse we strongly differ in opinion does not mean it is a flame war. we each put valuable information on those threads. and if i am not respectful to another who is debating why would i even post here? i hope you dont consider this post disrespectful to you, because it is not...just like my other posts were not.
"i hope you dont consider this post disrespectful to you, because it is not...just like my other posts were not."
i used YOU because i was directly addressing webmaster, he locked my threads so i was stating my case i guess you would say. but i will be careful how i address a debate now, i guess ill have to if i want to get some constructive conversations around here.
it is too bad that we cant continue that debate though
i was on a roll

I have locked down several threads tonight and am going through others as well. What I am interested in is maintaining the positive atmosphere on this site and what we define as acceptable conduct on the site.
From our guidelines:
"This is a busy site with several hundred user registrations each day. It takes work to keep it running smoothly. If a moderator asks you to stop doing something please comply with the request. Just because something isn't listed in these guidelines doesn't mean its acceptable and we handles issues on a case-by-case basis."
