I have a '93 A'star w/ 3.0 L six. 50 miles ago it was running poorly so I installed new plug wires and coil. Ran like a stripe-ed-a$$ed-ape! Then the other day (50 miles later) driving 55mph it died deader-than-a-mackerel! No spark anywhere. I removed finned aluminum electronic device from inner side of right front fender and took it to OReilly Auto Parts for testing. (they called it an ECM. Is it ECM or ICM?) Anyway, they tested it and said it "failed all tests". So I bought a new one ($60), installed it and it still won't start, no spark! I tested the connector at the ECM, (or ICM?) With key on, 2 of the terminals in the connector are "hot", With key off, all terminals off.
If you have no spark, there are just two cheap possibilities. The Ignition module has already been replaced, so I would look at the coil next. To get to the coil, you need to open the doghouse and look at the rear of the engine, near the distributor. By the way, did you check to make sure all the wires are connected to the distributor? Also, check the wire coming from the coil to the distributor. That could have come loose at either end. Aside from that, the engine computer is next, and that's really expensive.
Just to get this straight...You replaced the plug wires and the coil and about 50 miles later your van died and you have no spark at all. Also the ECM was replaced, but still no spark. Where are you checking for spark, at the plugs or from the distributor?
Since you replaced the coil, was it a exact replacement or a "hot" coil? Do you have power to the primary of the coil? If so, do you get spark at the distributor? Have you checked the rotor and distributor cap?
