I do an annual purge of the brake fluid using a Mityvac Pump (about $35 at most auto parts stores) and a new sealed large can of DOT 3 brake fluid. The Mityvac makes for a quick, clean, one-person operation.
I pump the fluid at each wheel cylinder. By starting with the front driver side, I pump the fluid until it is clear taking into consideration the old fluid from the master cylinder has less distance to travel to the front driver side.
Remember to keep replenishing the fluid in the master cylinder as you progress from wheel to wheel
There is a topic in the Garage forum on building a cheapo pressure bleeder also.
One thing to watch out for with a vacuum bleeder. You can pull enuf vac to suck air past your piston seals. Actually the air pushes past the seals but you know what I mean.
